Retirement Planning in Indianapolis
You've done the saving. Thirty or forty years of it. Now comes the part nobody at work ever explained: turning what you've saved into a paycheck that lasts, without handing more of it to the IRS than you have to.
That's the work we do at Plan Wise Wealth Group. We're an independent fiduciary firm on the northeast side of Indianapolis, and we work almost exclusively with Indiana pre-retirees and retirees, most of them between 59 and 70 with somewhere between $700,000 and $2 million saved.
A retirement plan is not a pie chart.
When we build a plan, it answers four questions in plain English:
Where will your paycheck come from?
We map out your income sources month by month: Social Security, any pension, and withdrawals from your accounts, so you know exactly what hits your bank account and when.
What will taxes take, and how do we shrink that number?
Most retirees have the bulk of their savings in pre-tax accounts, which means every dollar comes out taxable. A multi-year Roth conversion strategy, done in the right years and amounts, can move a meaningful share to the tax-free side before RMDs and Medicare surcharges stack up.
When should you take Social Security?
The difference between a good claiming decision and a rushed one is often six figures over a retirement. We run the math for your specific situation instead of guessing.
What happens if the market has a bad year early on?
We structure income so a downturn in year two doesn't force you to sell investments at the worst possible time.
Why Indianapolis retirees have a real tax opportunity
Indiana is a genuinely good state to retire in from a tax standpoint. The state doesn't tax Social Security benefits, and the state income tax rate sits just under three percent and is scheduled to keep falling. That makes the window between retirement and RMD age unusually valuable here: conversions you do now are taxed at some of the lowest combined rates you may ever see again.
A conversation, not a sales pitch.
In our first meeting we simply get clear on where you stand and what you want retirement to look like. From there we build your plan, walk through every recommendation together, and make sure you understand exactly what is happening and why. As a fiduciary firm, we're required to put your interests first. That's also just how we'd want to be treated.
Our office is at 9998 Crosspoint Blvd, Suite 320, on the northeast side of Indianapolis near I-69, an easy drive from Fishers, Noblesville, Carmel, Geist, and Fortville. The core of our tax work is Roth conversion planning.
Answered plainly.
No. Some of our best work happens in the five years before retirement, when there's still time to position accounts, plan conversions, and settle the Social Security decision before it's due.
No. The first conversation is free and there's no obligation. You'll leave knowing where you stand either way.
Yes. Plan Wise Wealth Group is an independent registered investment adviser, which means we're legally required to act in your best interest.
Often, yes. Many advisors manage investments but never touch tax strategy. If nobody has shown you a multi-year Roth conversion plan, that's usually the first thing we look at.
